Sexy young star Angelica Panganiban has just received a gift, a Mini Cooper from her hunky boyfriend Derek Ramsay.
The gift is for their third year anniversary as a couple. Angelica calls the iconic car, "Baby James;" a tounge-in-cheek reference to the popular chain of beauty salon.
The Mini Cooper has been popular among international celebrities including The Beatles and Enzo Ferrari. It was prominently used in the chase scenes in the movie, "The Italian Job."
A Mini Cooper 2008 model can cost over a million pesos.
Angelica narrated in "Showbiz News Ngayon" how Derek led to presenting her their "baby."
"Super inaway muna niya ako, 'yun pala may surprise siya sa akin. Tinawagan niya ako sa bahay. Pagdating niya, iyon ang dina-drive niya. Binato niya sa kin ang susi at sabi niya, 'O, happy anniversary, gift ko na 'yan sa 'yo.."'
Angelica and Derek's love story took a serious turn in 2007. They spent Holy Week of that year in the very exclusive Amanpulo resort in Palawan - courtesy of Derek.
Since then, Derek has been lavishing the young actress with other expensive presents and surprises. The couple is planning to watch the FIFA World Cup in South Africa next year.
The two have weathered some storms in their relationship. Just a few months ago, Derek and Angelica were even rumored to have separated.
A third party, a girl whom Derek allegedly fetched from school, was said to be the cause of the break-up. The couple doused it as plain gossip. The girl, it turned out, is a friend of Derek.

Gretchen, Claudine to unite in new ABS-CBN teleserye
Real life sisters Gretchen and Claudine Barretto will play a sisters role in a new ABS-CBN’s teleserye. "SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon" reported that Gretchen, who just came from United States, will be taping a comeback television series with her youngest sister Claudine. "Magkapatid kami dito sa teleserye at excited na excited ako.It's my honor to be working, not with just my sister, but with good actors," Gretchen said. Gretchen, who is known for being a controversial magnet, said Claudine’s presence in the cast would surely boost his acting and stamina to last the taping series. She added that she's open to getting advices from Claudine, who is one of the country's award-winning actresses. "Kakayanin ko ang taping basta si Claudine Barretto ang kasama ko. Kasi alam naman natin na si Claudine ay marami nang acting awards so gusto ko ma-inspire at gusto kong matuto din from her," Gretchen said. Gretchen, the eldest of the Barretto sisters, will leave the country again to accompany her daughter Dominique who will attend a theater camp in New York.

Anne Curtis mum on new suitor
Although Anne Curtis admits to dating a new suitor after her break up with Sam Milby last year, the actress wants to keep her love life private for now.
"I just want to respect 'yung privacy nung tao kasi hindi naman siya taga-showbiz," she said in "Showbiz News Ngayon" on July 14.
The name of the guy being linked to Anne is Erwan Heusaff. His photo made it to a tabloid column this week.
Anne has learned her lessons when it comes to the affairs of her heart. She said she got "misjudged" during her well-publicized romance with Sam.
"Parang naging magulo [noong kami ni Sam] so from now on, quiet. I'd rather not talk about it," she said.
What are Erwan's chances of getting her nod?
"Wala pa kami sa stage na 'yon at hindi ko pa siya boyfriend. Hindi natin alam kung ano ang mangyayari. Baka mamaya, we're just meant to be friends lang."

Ara Mina surprised by Cristine's decision
Actress Ara Mina was caught off guard when she heard the news that her sister, Cristine Reyes, was returning to GMA 7. Mina admitted that even she was puzzled why her younger sister would leave ABS-CBN a year after she joined the network. "Kung ako ang tatanungin, hindi din magandang palipat-lipat," Mina told ABS-CBN News. "Sa side ko kung sasabihin nilang ako palipat-lipat, maganda naman ang paalam ko…. Kailangan lahat ng sugat ay maghilom muna."Mina said she has yet to talk to Reyes about the issue since she just arrived from the United States. When asked what advice she would give Reyes, Mina said she would rather keep her opinion to herself because her sister might take it negatively. Mina admitted that she and Reyes no longer communicate as often as before. Mina used to manage Reyes’ career but the two had a falling out due to a misunderstanding. It would be recalled that rumors of rivalry between Mina and Reyes had surfaced after Reyes got a big break when she was cast to play the main character on television series “Eva Fonda." Reports said the two had eventually patched things up. Mina, however, maintained: "Hindi naman porke’t binitawan ko [ang pagiging manager sa kanya] ay binitawan ko na din ang pagiging ate ko. It's just that hinahayaan ko siyang mag-desisyon sa sarili niya and mas tahimik ngayon wala kaming conflict. Hindi kami nag-aaway. I guess mas gusto niya ang ganoong buhay na hindi pinapakialaman."

Maricar Reyes is a commercial model-turned-TV actress, she played “Candy” in ABS-CBN’s series “I love Betty La Fea” as Armando’s (John Lloyd) first love. Maricar is a familiar face in television as she is the endorser of Pond’s Facial Wash and Modess.She was discovered by Mr. Johnny Manahan in a TV ad she did for a fast food company. A model by profession, she finally found her way to enter showbiz through ABS-CBN’s hit television series “I Love Betty La Fea” with actor John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo.
The 24-year-old Ateneo BS Biology graduate had been attending Talent Center acting workshops weekly since August before she got the news that she was chosen for the role. Before entering showbiz, Maricar’s only experience in acting was TV commercials, where she did ads for several major products.
A self-admitted gym buff, Maricar shares that she loves working out and keeping healthy. “I love to work out at the gym. I think it’s my addiction. Maricar Reyes admits she dated Dr. Hayden Kho
Aside from being a commercial model and actress, Maricar Reyes is also a practicing doctor, but her life as a general practitioner is something that Maricar would rather keep private. “I’d rather not talk about it much. I consider being a doctor as my day job, and I would like to keep that side of my life separate from my showbiz life. I want to keep a certain level of professionalism in both of my careers in medicine and showbiz. For some patients, having a doctor who is also an artista is a downside.Iniisip nila kung nagka-time ka ba talaga na mag-aral na maging doktor kasi artista ka. I want to keep them separate. If I’m a doctor, I’m only a doctor. If I’m an artista, I’m just an artista,” she told ABS-CBN.com during an exclusive interview at the ABS-CBN Trade Launch last April 30. Maricar is part of the cast of the new afternoon series Precious Hearts Romances presents Bud Brothers.
There have been rumors that Maricar used to date Dr. Hayden Kho, the ex-boyfriend of Dr. Vicki Belo, back when they were both in medical school. When asked about it, Maricar admitted that she did have a relationship with Dr. Hayden. “Yes, we dated for a year when we met in med school. I would say it was serious, like all of my relationships. I was committed to him, we were committed to each other. Pero wala rin e. Differences in our personalities siguro ang dahilan kung bakit kami naghiwalay. We didn’t seem to get along anymore, things were not working out. Parang one year after we realized we’re not compatible. We grew apart na lang. There’s nothing much I can say na rin because I can’t remember the details na. It’s been a long time, med school pa ‘yun.”
Maricar added that she lost touch with Dr. Hayden after their split and they have not seen each other ever since then. “Wala nang communication after the breakup. We grew apart. Naging iba na ‘yung lives namin. I haven’t seen him in a long time. I have no hard feelings naman. We were not compatible talaga, ganun lang ‘yun. We didn’t really know each other that well during the relationship. We didn’t have common friends that’s why nung nag-break kami, break talaga.”
Maricar confessed to ABS-CBN.com that she was very surprised when she heard the news that Dr. Hayden attempted to commit suicide after his much-publicized breakup with Dr. Vicki. “I was very surprised. I never knew he would do something like that, from what I knew of him. It made me think na maybe I didn’t really know him at the time we were together. I was also sad. But good thing naagapan ‘yung nangyari.”
However alarming the incident was, Maricar said that she never tried to contact or see her ex-boyfriend to extend help. “Hindi na ako nag-reach out. It’s been a long time so I don’t think I still have the place in his life. A situation like that calls only for the people close to the person. Baka rin may mga things sa life niya na hindi ko na alam. Mahirap namang makialam nang basta-basta.”
