Giving the most moving message from the Aquino family so far, television host and actress Kris Aquino said she could not find words to say goodbye to her mother, former President Corazon Aquino.
“How do I find the words to say goodbye? Paano bang magpaalam na alam ng puso mo na hindi pa rin sapat ang panahong ibinahagi sayo ng Diyos? [How do you say goodbye when your heart knows God did not give you enough time?]" the young Aquino said in behalf of her family, after the requiem mass for the former leader at the Manila Cathedral.
The youngest of the Aquino children also told their mother: “I lied to you. Nagsinungaling ako when I said we'd be ok. I did it because we wanted you to be free from all the pain.”
She said it would take a “lifetime” before the family could get over their mother’s passing.
“I love you. Goodbye, mom. Maraming salamat at paalam [Thank you very much and goodbye],” she said.
The young Aquino said the family was comforted with the thought that the former leader would finally join her husband, martyred Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. in heaven.
"Dad, it's your turn now. You are her one and only love. Now that you are together again, no matter how painful it is for us to let her go, we were comforted knowing that mom is happy to be reunited with you," she said.
Kris also used the opportunity to thank her siblings, particularly her eldest sister, Ballsy, for always "keeping" peace within the family.
"To my ate, our eldest sister, Ballsy, I'd like to say thank you for being beside mom -- working for her and with her from the time of dad's death," she said.
"Thank you ate, for keeping the peace, for always so patient with all of us, for always ready to listen to each of us," she said.
Kris also thanked her other sister, Pinky, whom she would forever share the “most painful” memory while they were taking care of their mother.
And to her only brother, Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, Kris sought for understanding as he would now take the place their mother as protector of her son, Joshua.
Joshua is Kris' lovechild by her ex-partner, actor Philip Salvador.
"Noy, alam ko sa ospital sinabi ni Josh, 'Tito 'Noy, never get married.' Sana maintindihan mo [Noy, when we were in the hospital, Josh said, ‘Toto Noy, never get married’ I hope you understand. You are now his security banket. You've taken take mom's place as his protector," she said.
"Pero huwag kang mag alala, kaming mga kapatid mo kung saan ka masaya pwede narin" she said.
